Palette Painting IV
The Palette Painting series explores the unconscious mind’s journey through the process of painting. As I worked on a particular piece, I realized that the blending on the palette was equally captivating as my main work. With my cognitive focus on the other piece, an intriguing playfulness and freedom emerged on the palette. It was soon after this discovery that I began using many smaller canvases as palettes, ultimately completing their own paintings.
Palette Painting IV is more than an abstracted landscape of colorful clouds in the sky; it tells a story of creation. It features bold strokes merging warm hues with vibrant greens and deep blues. Upon completion as a palette, I filled the remaining space with a radiant blue, creating a stunning contrast with the palette’s original colors. This piece is designed to be displayed in any direction, but is wired and showcased in my preferred orientation.
